Meet Auburn University’s Bass Angler, Sam Harvey

Meet Auburn University’s Bass Angler, Sam Harvey, who grew up in Harare, Zimbabwe. We chose to sponsor this young man for his perseverance!  Zimbabwe is where Scap became a bass angler then traveled to Montgomery, Alabama in 1980 to represent the 1st Zimbabwean team to compete professionally.

As a young angler, Sam had always dreamed of going to the USA to fish professionally.  In the fall of 2020, the Auburn Bass Fishing team gave him the opportunity to pursue the best fishing while obtaining a Business Administration degree. It was challenging to Sam due to Covid-19 and making his first experiences quite daunting. He said, he quickly clicked with the fishing team that have become his family.

Sam’s freshman year, he was paired up with Canadian Rob Cruvellier.  Together they won Team of the Year for Auburn University Bass Team against several highly regarded competition. Sam said, this will forever be a Special Memory to be the first international team in college fishing to win! Sam has been fishing as a co-angler for the past two years, but in May he purchased his first bass boat.  He believes his transformation has come with many learning curves with highs and lows, as well as in the sport of Bass Fishing. Sam is in his junior year and doing well academically & angling. The AU team is student lead & he’s busy as Secretary with fundraisers & other duties keeping the team competing at the highest level. Sam is excited about the spring season as he represents his college team in the circuits.  Keep a close eye on what the Lord has in store for him!
